The ‘Colorful’ Plate
Before my daughters were born, I pictured myself making elaborate homemade meals to fill their plates with a variety of foods. I’m 6 years into being a mom and to be honest, feeding my two kids can be tough, especially when they are often choosy eaters! My own expectations of feeding my kids have changed as time has gone on. The older my girls get the harder it is to get them to eat a variety of foods. We often go through phases where they love a specific food one week and then turn up their nose to it the next.
Milk Options
In today’s world, asking for milk can lead to many options, from the traditional cow’s milk to plant-based alternatives. Popular plant-based milks include soy, almond, oat, coconut, and pea milk. Cow’s milk is recommended for its calcium content and other nutrients like vitamins D, A, and B12. Though, these are often added to plant-based milks. Reading labels is key when deciding which milk to choose to make sure the milk has the nutrients you need. Let’s use the table below as a start to explore some milk options.

Cut your Fresh Produce Bill in Half
Raise your hand if you enjoy spending more money on food than you need to. Anyone? If I could see through your screen, my guess is your hand would be down. Most people like the idea of eating well while also keeping an eye on their grocery budget. With increasing food prices, that feels more difficult to do and can feel out of our control. However, there are steps you can take to put you on the path toward saving money on food.
Which Recipes are Diabetes-Friendly?
Our Spend Smart. Eat Smart. team often gets the request to mark which of our recipes are ‘diabetes-friendly’. We want to share why this is not something we do.
A Fresh and Clean Refrigerator
We have reached the last task of our January kitchen refresh! Cleaning out the fridge likely doesn’t fall high on anyone’s priority list; however, it always feels good to get it done.
