This month has been all about snacks here on the blog. Snacks are also a must at my house to keep my 10-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son full between meals. My son often tells me we don’t have any good snacks in the house. Therefore, I’ve been thinking about how I can balance my desire for him to have a nutritious snack and his desire for something more fun than what I usually keep on hand.
A couple of Spend Smart. Eat Smart. recipes that I know will make us both happy are the Peanut Butter Banana Oat Bites and Energy Bites. I’ve made both of these before and they are a hit. Both of them have some protein, healthy fats, and fiber for a more filling snack but are also a fun snack with the chocolate chips. Since my kids, husband and I all like them, they are gone quickly. Therefore, I’m planning to make a double or triple batch of each to freeze so I can pull them out as needed. We talk a lot about making and freezing meals but you can also do it with snacks! What kind of snacks do you like to make ahead to have on hand?
