Spaghetti Squash

Spaghetti Squash

I always look forward to this time of year. As the summer break from school winds down, I like to take some time off work and simply enjoy the end of summer with my children. Sometimes we go on adventures, but a lot of the time we just relax around home. And, to be honest, I do not cook much. This means I am probably not going to make our August recipe of the month – Spaghetti Squash – until this fall.

The best thing about a spaghetti squash, and other winter squash, is that they store well. You can keep one in a cool, dark place for about a month. This month and next, winter squash will be plentiful, so you may be able to find one for free or for a very low price. If, like me, you are not in the mood for cooking, find a safe place in your home to store those squash and cook them next month.

Our Spaghetti Squash recipe is more of a step-by-step guide for how to prepare a spaghetti squash than an actual recipe. Once you have the steps down, you can season the squash however you like. If you prefer to see someone work through those steps, you can watch a video on preparing winter squash.

I hope you enjoy the end of summer and you enjoy this recipe when the time is right for you!
