Selection
Look for pears that are firm, and have a green, yellow, or red color (depending on variety). Avoid pears that are bruised. A ripe pear will give slightly when pressed near the stem.
Storing
Store at room temperature in paper bag to ripen. Store in refrigerator for up to 4 days once ripe.
Cleaning
Rinse pears under cool running water before eating.
Preparing
Eat whole or cut up into slices. Add slices into salads or eat with fruit dip.
