Ingredients

  • 2 cups oats (old fashioned or quick cooking)
  • 1/2 cup mix-ins (chia seeds, shredded coconut, dried fruit, flax seeds, nuts, pepitas, sunflower seed kernels)
  • 2 tablespoons oil (canola or vegetable)
  • 1/2 cup honey, maple syrup, or pancake syrup
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300° Fahrenheit. Spray a large baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together oats and mix-ins.
  3. Stir oil and honey or syrup into the oats until the oats are completely coated.
  4. Stir water into the oats until absorbed by the oats.
  5. Spread oat mixture evenly across the baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until golden brown. Stir and break up clumps every 15 to 20 minutes.
  7. Cool completely on the baking sheet. Store in an airtight container.

Tips

For added flavor, stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla or cinnamon.
