Rutabagas have yellow skin with hints of purple and yellow flesh. Select rutabagas that are heavy for their size and free of soft spots, deep cuts, or signs of decay.
Store rutabagas in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
Scrub under cool running water.
Peel and enjoy them raw or cooked.
Slice them and add to a salad.
