Selection

Greens: Look for greens that are a deep green color and have crisp leaves. Avoid greens that have thick stems.

Lettuce: Look for lettuce that is a bright color and has crisp leaves. Avoid lettuce that is starting to brown.

Storing

Store in refrigerator in a plastic bag for 3 to 5 days. Store lettuce as a whole head.

Cleaning

Separate the leaves of the head. Rinse the leaves under cool running water several times until the water runs clear.

Preparing

Tear the leaves into smaller pieces for a salad. Add greens into a simmering soup or your smoothie for an extra boost.
