Selection
Greens: Look for greens that are a deep green color and have crisp leaves. Avoid greens that have thick stems.
Lettuce: Look for lettuce that is a bright color and has crisp leaves. Avoid lettuce that is starting to brown.
Storing
Store in refrigerator in a plastic bag for 3 to 5 days. Store lettuce as a whole head.
Cleaning
Separate the leaves of the head. Rinse the leaves under cool running water several times until the water runs clear. Pat dry with a paper towel.
Preparing
Tear the leaves into smaller pieces for a salad. Add greens into a simmering soup or your smoothie for an extra boost.
