School is in full swing and you know what that means…trying to figure out what to feed my family when we have an activity almost every evening. From dance to volleyball to football we are on the go like many other families. To help ease the stress of evening meals I like to do weekly meal planning. Some weeks meal ideas come to me easily and other weeks I struggle trying to decide what to make. A tool I have found helpful for meal planning is our Spend Smart. Eat Smart. Family Favorites Recipe List. We have two different options, one that divides recipes by category (breakfast, side, main dish, salad, soup, and snack) and one that divides recipes based on protein source (beef, pork, fish, poultry, venison, and vegetarian).
Keeping track of recipes that my family likes gives me ideas for what to include when meal planning. Of course, it’s great when all four of us like something but if at least three people like a recipe, it goes on the list. I keep the list hanging in my kitchen, so it is easy to access when I want to add a recipe to it or look at it when meal planning. I use the list that is divided by protein source so when I’m checking what protein options I have on hand or what is on sale at the store, I can easily see what recipes I could make using those options.
Some of our favorite recipes include Beef and Vegetable Stir Fry, Broiled Salmon, Pasta Fagioli Soup, and Chicken Fajitas.
