Today I get to kick off our series on snack boards – one of my favorite topics! My mom makes a snack board for most family get-togethers and they’re always pretty and delicious.

When our family gathers it’s usually at least eight people and often more, so there are a lot of different tastes to please. The teenagers in our family tend to arrive capital H Hungry knowing a snack board will be waiting for them!

Here are a few reasons why snack boards are a great solution when you need to satisfy a crowd.

  • Little to no cooking is required! You can make a lovely snack board using things that are raw and simple to prep. Fruits, veggies, cheese, crackers, nuts and a dip are all tasty additions.
  • They are flexible to people’s needs. Families often have members with different eating patterns, sensitivities and preferences. Snack boards allow everyone to choose what they want.
  • They are an easy way to incorporate healthy foods. If you are having a celebration like a pizza party, you might find your meal is missing some food groups or is a bit short on fiber. Adding a snack board with crunchy veggies and some sliced fruit is a fun way to give the meal some balance.
  • They double as decoration. Your board can help you emphasize a party theme without having to buy special decorations. You can choose foods to include that follow school or team colors, holiday colors or even someone’s favorite color for their birthday.

I hope you have some fun spring and summer gatherings coming up. If you give a snack board a try, take a picture and share with us! Stay tuned throughout May for snack board blogs from Justine and Katy.
