Air Fryer Adventures – Part 2

BLACK BEAN BURGERS

This week I get to share with you about my air fryer adventures. Check out Justine’s blog from last week to hear about her experience making roasted broccoli and fish in her air fryer.

I have a multicooker with the air fryer function. It also has settings to bake, roast, dehydrate, reheat, and rotisserie. And a custom setting that allows you to set your own temperature. My multicooker came with two cooking trays, a drip tray, basket, and rotisserie set. We most often use the cooking racks and drip tray, and they are easy to clean in the dishwasher or by hand. Like Justine, I store my multicooker on my kitchen counter and pull it away from the wall when I’m using it. My son and husband like to use the air fryer to make chicken strips for lunch. We also use it to reheat leftovers. I have found it helpful when I want to cook a piece of chicken or fish to pack in my lunch, so I don’t have to heat up the whole oven. One thing I have learned is that it’s important not to overload the rack, or it will cause uneven cooking.

I wanted to try air frying our Spend Smart. Eat Smart. Pizza Boats and Black Bean Burgers.

  • I first tried the Pizza Boats. I used a leftover hot dog bun and topped it with pizza sauce, canned chicken, chopped veggies, and cheese. The air fryer setting cooks at 400⁰F and I cooked it for 6 minutes. The timing was perfect and the cheese was melted and just slightly brown. I thought the Pizza Boat was delicious and I will be making it again. It was great for a quick lunch. It would also work well for an easy supper.
  • The second recipe I tried was Black Bean Burgers. After making the Black Bean Burgers, I put two patties on a rack lined with parchment paper. I used the air fryer setting and cooked them for 8 minutes. I enjoyed the Black Bean Burger on a bun with a slice of cheese for lunch. Similar to the Pizza Boats, these work well for a quick lunch or easy supper.
