We’re taking a pause from our usual food and cooking content today to share a valuable resource with our readers. We all have days when stress feels like it is weighing us down. Whether it is stress related to work, relationships or money, sometimes we need help to manage it all. This is why the Iowa Concern hotline exists. Iowa Concern is a service of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach designed to help callers navigate challenges and help to find solutions.

Call or text Iowa Concern for any of the following:

  • Stress management support
  • Education about legal concerns
  • Connections to assistance with rent, food or utilities
  • Mental health resources
  • Support in navigating a personal crisis or natural disaster
  • A listening ear when you need it

All personal information given to Iowa Concern is kept confidential and the service is free to callers and texters. Christine Hradek

Christine Hradek is a State Nutrition Specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. She coordinates ISU’s programs which help families with low income make healthy choices with limited food budgets. Christine loves helping families learn to prepare healthy foods, have fun in the kitchen and save money. In her spare time, Christine enjoys cooking, entertaining and cheering on her favorite college football teams with her family and friends.
