Salad in a Bag

Salad in a bag

No, I’m not talking about a bag of salad you can buy from the grocery store but one you can make yourself! To make Salad in a Bag put 1 cup of leafy greens, ½ cup chopped vegetables, and 1 to 2 tablespoons of dressing per person in a plastic storage bag.  For individual salads, use a quart size plastic bag and for a family size salad use a one-gallon size plastic bag. If you have reusable plastic or silicone bags, they are a great choice for this.

Here are a few reasons I like this recipe:

  • When making individual salads each person can choose what to put on their salad.
  • It’s a great way to use up leftover vegetables you have on hand.
  • Putting the salad in a plastic storage bag makes it great to take on a picnic or pack for lunch on a long car ride.
  • Young kids can have fun making their salad by putting everything in the bag, sealing it shut, and then shaking it up to mix everything together. Who says eating vegetables can’t be fun?!

One of my favorite salad dressings is our Honey Mustard Dressing. Make it with your Salad in a Bag today!
